Sai Sudharsan, who had a splendid run in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), didn't have the best of start while playing his first Test. Sudharsan, 23, was handed his maiden Test cap in the ongoing first Test against England in Headingley, Leeds on Friday. His debut on June 20 also clashed with the maiden appearances of three of India's most celebrated batters and former captains, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and Virat Kohli.

However, it was not the dream debut he would have hoped for and was packed for a four-ball duck. The instance also saw him join an unwanted list of Indian cricketers, featuring 29 other names, who were dismissed for a duck Test debut.

While Sudharsan's debut innings didn't live up to the high standards set by his predecessors, history shows that a quiet beginning doesn't always dictate the journey ahead. With the second innings yet to unfold, the young southpaw has the opportunity to script his comeback and begin carving out his own legacy in Indian Test cricket.
