Legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, on June 30, heaped praises on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the talismans of Indian cricket, for their illustrious careers upon the announcement of their retirement from T20Is.
Reflecting on their careers, Tendulkar noted Rohit's evolution as a batsman and Virat's perseverance, drawing parallels to his own journey to win the World Cup in his sixth appearance, similar to Kohli’s wait for his T20 World Cup victory.
Rohit's career has been the stuff of dreams, with Tendulkar calling his triumph at the 2024 T20 World Cup as captain the ‘greatest’ moment of his career. Leading India to T20 World Cup glory in Barbados, Rohit finished as the highest scorer in T20Is with 4231 runs in 159 matches and holds the record for the most centuries in men’s T20Is. He is also a two-time world champion in the shortest format.
