ICC Champions Trophy FAQs

A total of eight teams divided in two groups will take part in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Group A features hosts Pakistan, New Zealand, India, Bangladesh, who’ll also kick-off the tournament. South Africa, Australia, England, and Afghanistan are clubbed in Group B.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 schedule:

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will get underway from February 19 in Karachi and will conclude on March 9. A total of eight teams divided in two groups will take part in the tournament, featuring a total of 15 matches. It will be played across Pakistan (Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi) and in Dubai. Each city in Pakistan will host three group matches, while the second semi-final will take place in Lahore.

 

Pakistan kick-off the tournament against New Zealand, which is a Group A encounter. Meanwhile, India play their first match on the following day, which is February 20 against Bangladesh, following which the Men in Blue take on arch rivals Pakistan on February 23. Meanwhile, Group B encounters begin from February 21 onwards.

 

When will India play Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

Rohit Sharma-led India start their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. The team will then meet Pakistan on February 23, which will be played at the Dubai International Stadium. India also headline the final group stage encounter, which is against New Zealand on March 2.

 

Can both India and Pakistan qualify for the finals of ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

Yes, India and Pakistan can both qualify for the finals of ICC Champions Trophy. Bangladesh and New Zealand are the two teams, which will challenge the Asian heavyweights for the semifinal spots. But if India and Pakistan manage to finish in the top two from their group, they progress to the semifinals, where they will clash against the top two finishers from Group B. If things fall as per plans, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will see a repeat of the 2017 edition, where the finals were played between both the countries at The Oval.

 

What are the matches to watch out for in ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

Apart from the blockbuster India vs Pakistan encounter, the tournament will headline many exciting clashes. Here is a list of the group stage clashes, which every cricket fan should look forward to:

 

19 February: Pakistan v New Zealand, Karachi

 

22 February: Australia v England, Lahore

 

25 February: Australia v South Africa, Rawalpindi

 

1 March: South Africa v England, Karachi

 

2 March: New Zealand v India, Dubai

 

Where will the finals be played if India qualify for final of ICC Champions Trophy 2025? 

The venue for the summit clash is Lahore but the match will take place in Dubai if India qualifies for it.

 

Is there a reserve day for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final?

Both the semifinals and the final will have reserve days and all the matches will take place as day-night.
