India pacer Mohammed Shami has spoken out after being left out of the Australia white-ball tour. Shami was left off of the Ajit Agarkar-led men's selection committee's roster for the two-Test series against the West Indies and the ODI and T20I series against Australia.
Shami, who last represented India in the Champions Trophy 2025, ended all the rumors by speaking out about his selection snub. Shami disclosed on his YouTube channel that he had been asked a lot of questions concerning his level of fitness. Shami was not considered for the Indian team, according to chief selector Ajit Agarkar, because he had not played enough domestic cricket.

“There have been many rumours and memes. Getting selected in the team is not in my hands. It’s the job of the selection committee, coach, and captain. If they feel I should be there, they will select me, or if they feel that I need more time, it’s their call. I am ready to play if I am called up,” Shami said on his YouTube channel.
Regarding his level of fitness, Shami reported that he is feeling well and bowling in his typical rhythm. Shami bowled 34 overs during his most recent appearance for the East Zone in the Duleep Trophy. The pacer stated that he is trying to get into even better form for India and that it was crucial for him to stay motivated while away from the team.
“My fitness is also good. I will try to do better because when you are away from the ground, you need to remain motivated. I played in the Duleep Trophy. I felt very comfortable, my rhythm was good, and I bowled around 35 overs. There are no issues with my fitness,” Shami said.
The Bengal team's Ranji Trophy campaign will mark the fast bowler's comeback to red-ball cricket. Shami will spearhead the team's bowling attack that will have Ishan Porel and Akash Deep.
