Spaceflight changes minds in ways that few can even think about. With months on board the International Space Station (ISS), NASA astronauts on Crew-9 are poised to discuss their mission. They will discuss their experiences in a post-flight press conference on March 31.
Conference Information and Media Availability
The press conference starts at 2:30 p.m. EDT at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Nick Hague, Suni Williams, and Butch Wilmore, astronauts, will be present to answer questions. Because of travel schedules, Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov will not be present to attend.
Media representatives can be there in person or remotely. Media representatives who desire to be interviewed should call NASA's Johnson newsroom by 28 March. Reporters on the phone must call 10 minutes prior. Viewers are also able to watch live on NASA+.
Mission Journey and Scientific Research
Hague and Gorbunov launched on 28 September 2024 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. They docked at the ISS the next day. Williams and Wilmore launched on 5 June aboard Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. They had been in space for 286 days, covering 121 million miles.
On its mission, the Crew-9 conducted 900 hours of science. It conducted over 150 experiments ranging from plant experiments for growth to stem cell technology. It conducted a spacewalk as well and experimented with the survival of microorganisms in space. NASA's Commercial Crew Program is pushing spaceflight forward. The ISS remains a stepping stone to missions to Mars and the Moon.
