A New Competitor in the Space Race

The New Glenn rocket is designed to rival SpaceX's Falcon 9. It stands about 320 feet tall and aims to reduce launch costs through reusability. Blue Origin's mission, named NG-1, showcased the rocket’s capabilities by placing the Blue Ring Pathfinder payload into orbit.

Blue Origin aimed to launch the rocket and place the payload in orbit. While the landing of the first stage was a bonus, the primary goal was to ensure a successful launch.

Focus on Reusability and Satellite Deployment

The New Glenn rocket's first stage is powered by seven BE-4 engines. Together, these engines produce 3.8 million pounds of thrust. The mission's payload is part of an effort to develop satellite deployment technologies.

While the rocket successfully completed its mission, the first stage did not land on the floating pad in the Atlantic. Nonetheless, this achievement demonstrates Blue Origin’s push for reusability in space missions.
