In a remarkable achievement that has brought pride to India, ten-year-old Shreyovi Mehta has been named a runner-up in the young photographer category of the 60th BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards. Her captivating photograph, which features two peacocks gracefully captured in the misty dawn at Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur, has earned her a place among the highly commended images, selected from over 59,000 entries worldwide.

The BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards, hosted by the Natural History Museum in London, are considered one of the most prestigious wildlife photography competitions globally. This year’s competition saw entries from 117 countries, making Shreyovi’s accomplishment all the more impressive. Her journey to this global platform is a reflection of her dedication, passion, and the unwavering support from her parents and school.

Shreyovi Mehta, a Grade 5 student at Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, has brought immense pride to her family, school, and the nation. It stands as an inspiration for aspiring young photographers across India, showcasing the heights that can be reached with talent, dedication, and support. The winners of the 60th Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition will be officially announced by the Natural History Museum in London this October.
