Thaipusam 2025

Thaipusam 2025, one of the most important festivals of Tamil Nadu, will be observed today, February 11, 2025. The Poosam Nakshathram begins at 6:01 PM on February 10, 2025, and ends at 6:34 PM on February 11, 2025.

Thaipoosam is an auspicious day dedicated to Lord Murugan. This day is observed with great devotion by devotees, who participate in special prayers, kavadi offerings, and spiritual rituals across Murugan temples, especially in Tamil Nadu and other parts of South India. The Aarupadai Veedu (six abodes of Murugan) are witnessing a sea of devotees today.

Tamil Nadu is witnessing massive crowds at Murugan temples as devotees gather in lakhs to celebrate the Thaipusam festival. At the Vadalur Vallalar Gnanasabai, large numbers of devotees are flocking to witness the sacred Jyoti Darshan, where seven curtains are removed to reveal the divine light. To accommodate the heavy influx of devotees, special trains have been arranged across the state.

In Palani, thousands of devotees carrying kavadi are being allowed to climb the hill in groups via the Elephant Path, while arrangements have been made for them to descend using the staircase route. Free food distribution (annadanam) and prasadam services are provided along the temple pathways. Due to the heavy crowd, darshan tickets have been canceled for three days, and temporary vehicle parking, sanitation facilities, drinking water stations, and medical camps have been set up at the foothills. Over 3,000 police personnel have been deployed to manage security. Measures have been taken to prevent overcrowding, including clearing encroachments along the Giri Valam path used by devotees.

Similarly, at Tiruchendur, devotees have gathered in massive numbers, and all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure smooth darshan. Similar security and crowd management measures are in place at all six abodes of Lord Murugan.
