The puja involves a vow (vrat) and fasting, which strengthens one’s devotion and focus on spiritual growth. Listening to the Satyanarayana Katha, the story of the deity, is an integral part of the ritual.

Puja Rituals and Process

  • Preparation: Devotees clean the house and set up the puja area with the deity’s image or Saligram stone, which is symbolic of Lord Vishnu.
  • Offerings: Panchamrit (a mix of milk, honey, ghee, curd, and sugar), Tulsi leaves, fruits, and Panjiri (a sweet made from wheat flour) are offered to the Lord.
  • Puja Ceremony: The puja starts with prayers and chanting of mantras. The Katha is narrated to all present to understand the significance and origin of the ritual.
  • Aarti and Prasad: The ritual concludes with Aarti, and devotees consume Panchamrit and Prasad to end their fast.
