This vrat is typically observed for a duration of three, five, or seven years, with the ideal period being five years and five months. After completing this period, the fast is concluded with a special ceremony known as Udyapana.

• Abstaining from Food and Water: Many observe a strict fast without consuming food or water until the fast is broken.
• Breaking the Fast (Parana): The fast is broken when Margashirsha Nakshatra begins, marking the end of Rohini Nakshatra.
• Continuous Observance: Rohini Vrat is usually observed for three, five, or seven years continuously, with the most common period being five years and five months.
• Udyapana Ceremony: The fast concludes with the Udyapana ceremony after the completion of the designated period.
