Mohini Ekadashi Story

The story of Mohini Ekadashi is intricately linked to the mythological event known as Samudra Manthan, or the churning of the ocean. During this celestial event, a fierce battle erupted between the gods and demons for possession of Amrita, the nectar that bestows immortality.

To restore order and distribute the nectar equitably, Lord Vishnu assumed the captivating guise of Mohini. Her charm played a crucial role in guaranteeing that the gods obtained the nectar, while the demons were mesmerized by her beauty.

The churning produced both nectar and poison. Lord Shiva consumed the poison, preventing its destructive impact. The emergence of Mohini safeguarded the nectar for the gods.
