Kalki Jayanti 2025: Is the World Ready for the Return of Dharma?

Kalki Jayanti is observed to honour the future incarnation of Lord Vishnu, known as Kalki Avatara. It is believed that Lord Kalki will be born at the end of Kali Yuga to restore righteousness (Dharma) on Earth. In 2025, Kalki Jayanti falls on Wednesday, July 30, during Shashthi Tithi of Shravana Shukla Paksha.

Kalki Avatara is considered to be the tenth and final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, yet to appear on Earth. Unlike other Avataras like Rama or Krishna, Kalki's coming is predicted in the future, when evil and chaos will dominate the world. He is described in scriptures like the Srimad Bhagavatam and the Kalki Purana as the warrior who will end Kali Yuga and usher in a new era "Satya Yuga."

As per Hindu texts, Lord Kalki will be born in the village of Shambhala to a pious Brahmin named Vishnuyasha and his wife Devi Sumati. The sacred verse from the Srimad Bhagavatam confirms this divine prophecy:

Lord Kalki will be a scholar from a young age and well-versed in the Vedas and Puranas. He will have three brothers Sumanta, Prajna, and Kavi who will support him in restoring Dharma.

According to the Kalki Purana, Lord Kalki will receive spiritual and martial training from Lord Parashurama, another Avatara of Vishnu. He will perform penance to Lord Shiva and be blessed with divine weapons. Sage Yajnavalkya will serve as his priest. To defeat the forces of Adharma, Lord Kalki will ride a white horse named Devadatta and wield powerful weapons like the swords Nandaka and Ratnatsaru, the Saranga bow, the Kumaudiki mace, and the Panchajanya conch.

Lord Kalki’s divine family includes:

• Padma Devi (an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi)
• Rama Devi (associated with Vaishno Devi)
• Children: Jai, Vijay, Meghmala, and Balahaka

Lord Kalki’s chariot will be called Jayatra, drawn by Garudi, and driven by his charioteer Daruka. He will march with divine fury to destroy evil and re-establish righteousness in the world.
