Know The Story of Narak Chaturdashi

Naraka Chaturdashi, also known as Choti Diwali, holds great significance during the Deepavali festivities, especially in North India. In 2024, this important day falls on Thursday, October 31. Celebrated just a day before Lakshmi Puja, Naraka Chaturdashi is the second most crucial day of the Deepavali celebration.

The origins of Naraka Chaturdashi are rooted in the legend of Lord Krishna. It is said that on this day, Lord Krishna, alongside his wife Satyabhama, defeated the demon Narakasura. After the battle, Lord Krishna took an oil bath during the Brahma Muhurat, a time considered highly auspicious. This act is commemorated by millions of devotees who partake in ritualistic oil baths on this day, symbolizing purification and new beginnings.
