Char Dham Yatra 2025: Check Dates, Ticket Prices, Routes & Complete guide here

The Char Dham Yatra is one of the most revered pilgrimages in Hinduism, drawing thousands of devotees every year. This sacred journey covers four significant shrines in Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Each of these sites holds immense spiritual importance and is believed to enhance wisdom, consciousness, and spiritual knowledge for the pilgrims who undertake the journey.

When Will the Registrations Begin?

To embark on the Char Dham Yatra, registration is mandatory. The registrations for 2025 will open on March 2, 2025, and can be completed both online and offline. To simplify the process, the state tourism department has introduced a dedicated mobile application. Pilgrims can use this app for hassle-free registration.

While general darshan might follow a token system, advanced online booking is required for specific rituals like Rudrabhishek at Kedarnath Temple.

Start Date of the Char Dham Yatra 2025

The Char Dham Yatra will officially begin on April 29, 2025, starting with the Yamunotri Temple.

Key Details About the Four Dhams

Yamunotri Temple

The Yamunotri Temple, located in the Uttarkashi district, is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Built by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal, this sacred site lies at the source of the Yamuna River. To reach the temple, pilgrims must complete a 6-kilometre trek from Janki Chatti.

Gangotri Temple

The Gangotri Temple, dedicated to the holy River Ganga, is situated at an elevation of approximately 3,048 meters. This temple, surrounded by breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, is one of the tallest temples dedicated to Goddess Ganga and holds deep spiritual significance for devotees.

Kedarnath Temple

Nestled amidst the majestic Himalayan ranges, Kedarnath Temple stands at an altitude of 3,584 meters. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is considered one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism. According to legends, the Pandavas originally built the temple, while Adi Shankaracharya renovated it to its present form.

Badrinath Temple

Located in the town of Badrinath, this temple is dedicated to Lord Badrinarayan (a form of Lord Vishnu). The temple features a striking 3.3-foot-tall black stone idol that dates back to the Vedic Age. While the temple has undergone numerous renovations since the 9th century, its inner sanctum has remained unchanged, making it a unique spiritual site.

Plan Your Journey
The Char Dham Yatra is a spiritually enriching experience, but it also demands thorough preparation due to the high-altitude locations and challenging terrains. Pilgrims are advised to register early, plan their routes, and ensure they have the necessary gear and medical check-ups before beginning the journey.
