Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Goa today to unveil a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Canacona. The event marks the beginning of the 550th-year celebrations of the historic Math, a major spiritual centre for the Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava community. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the newly developed Ramayana Theme Park, making the visit even more special for devotees.
Large Devotee Gathering Expected
S Mukund Kamath, Joint Convenor of the Organising Committee, shared that more than 15,000 devotees from different states are expected to attend the event today. Over the full 11-day celebration, nearly 1.2 lakh people are likely to visit the Math. Popular artists including Shankar Mahadevan and Anup Jalota will present devotional performances during the festivities.
Partagali Math is considered the first Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava Math, following the Dvaita philosophy established by Jagadguru Madhvacharya in the 13th century. The Math is located in South Goa, along the Kushavati River, and holds a deep cultural and spiritual significance for devotees across India.
PM Modi’s Visit to Udupi
Before arriving in Goa, PM Modi will travel to Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi, Karnataka. He will participate in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana, where nearly 1 lakh participants including students, saints, and scholars will recite Srimad Bhagavad Gita together. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa and dedicate the Kanaka Kavacha, a golden cover for the sacred Kanakana Kindi, believed to be the place where Saint Kanakadasa had a divine vision of Lord Krishna.
PM Modi expressed his happiness ahead of the visit, saying the spiritual traditions of Udupi have always inspired service to society.
