A Delta Airlines plane flipped upon arrival at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday, injuring 17 people. The Endeavor Air flight 4819, which had flown from Minneapolis, was carrying 76 passengers and four crew members when it landed upside down in Canada’s largest city. The aircraft arrived in the afternoon, and footage from the scene shared on social media showed passengers walking on the ceiling to escape the overturned plane.
A flight attendant could be heard telling passengers, “Don’t take a video. Put that phone away,” as emergency workers arrived on the scene. The plane lay on its back, partially covered in snow left by a winter storm, the video showed.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority confirmed the incident occurred at around 2:15 pm. As a result, airport operations were temporarily suspended for about two and a half hours, and two runways remained closed for investigation.
Ornge air ambulance reported that one child was transported to Toronto’s SickKids hospital, while two injured adults were taken to other hospitals. Air traffic controllers discussed the situation with a medical helicopter crew, with one controller noting, "Just so you're aware, there’s people outside walking around the aircraft there," while the helicopter pilot replied, "Yeah, we've got it. The aircraft is upside down and burning."
While the cause of the plane's flip remains unclear, weather conditions may have played a role. The Meteorological Service of Canada reported blowing snow and winds of 32 mph (51 kph), with gusts reaching 40 mph (65 kph). The temperature at the time was 16.5°F (−8.6°C).
Airport fire chief Todd Aitken, while not commenting on the crash investigation, provided an update on runway conditions. “What we can say is the runway was dry and there was no cross-wind condition,” Aitken said.
Greater Toronto Airports Authority CEO Deborah Flint expressed relief, stating, "We are very grateful there was no loss of life and relatively minor injuries," with the number of reported injuries revised to 17 from an earlier count of 19.
