UK media reported on Thursday that the head chef of an exclusive club in Dubai is fighting for his life after being attacked near the Notting Hill Carnival in London.
Chef Mussie Imnetu was found lying unconscious in Queensway with severe head injuries late Monday night. He was rushed to the hospital and is said to be in critical condition.
A 31-year-old man from Newham has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody at a South London police station. According to media reports, Imnetu’s family is receiving support from specialist officers as the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police are seeking the public’s assistance in reconstructing the events leading up to the stabbing of Mussie Imnetu. One of the investigating officers stated that they are still trying to determine Imnetu’s movements between 1 p.m., when he left The Arts Club in Mayfair, and 10:30 p.m., when he arrived at the Dr Power restaurant in Queensway.
Imnetu, a Swedish national residing in Dubai, was visiting London for business. According to a report, he served as the head chef at The Brasserie in The Arts Club Dubai and had previously worked at prestigious London venues, including Oblix at The Shard and The Savoy Grill.
Although a 31-year-old man from Newham has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, authorities are still eager to speak with witnesses to the attack. Reports indicate that some customers at the venue attempted to intervene, and police are asking them to provide any information that could aid the investigation.
The stabbing reportedly occurred on the same day as the Notting Hill Carnival, where 230 arrests were made. Five people were stabbed, two of whom are in life-threatening condition.
