The world’s increasing environment awareness is reflected on the new sustainable housing projects that are coming up. The Vertical Forest or Bosco Verticle is a new pair of skyscraper by Milan office Boeri Studio led by an Italian architect Stefano Boera. It is currently under construction in Milan in Porta Nuova Isola area, part of a larger redevelopment project developed by Hines Italia. The two towers are 80 meters and 112 meters tall respectively, and have the capacity to house 480 big and medium size trees, 250 small size trees, 11000 ground cover plants and 5,000 shrubs. The two towers are set to open later this year and are already home 900 trees. The green vegetation which is present on all the four sides of the building would help in building a micro-climate and would also filter dust particles which are present in the urban environment. Moreover, the diverse vegetation would also protect the inhabitants from the harsh sun and serve as a home to various birds and insects. Vertical Forest is a landmark in the city which will offer a changing view of the metropolitan city architecture.
