The annual Paramparik Exhibition is celebrating its 20th year and will showcase some extraordinary creations of around 100 craftsmen under one roof. The exhibition is organized by Paramparik Karigar, an NGO, established by Roshan Kalapesi and Kamaladevi Chattopadhaya, The main objective of this NGO has been the preservation and promotion of traditional Indian arts, crafts and textiles; and to make people aware of the rich heritage of our country. The craftsmen use skills and techniques passed onto them through generations. They are keenly aware of the need to keep their craft alive , which is why they constantly experiment with new concepts and develop innovative designs that appeal to the modern urban consumer while still retaining the essence of traditional art. One of the major aims of Paramaparik Karigar is to ensure that the craftsmen’s remuneration is not inter-mediated by middlemen.
