By fusing European classicism with Oriental philosophies, Italy-based artist Parama Liberalesso has amalgamated the nuances of two known worlds into works of art. Born in 1976 in Florence, Italy, Parama spent his formative years amidst a Hare Krishna congregation at Villa Vrindavana in Italy. Here, he was exposed to Indian Vedic culture, its symbols and elements. Later, he graduated from the Institute of Art in Florence, studied at Academia di Belle Arti and followed it up by training in classical art and the traditional technique of oil painting at Venice. Today he is a multitalented artist, a portraitist, sculptor, illustrator and designer. The dramatic cultural mix that consequently became a part of his psyche often gets reflected in his work, as is evident in the series on the Ramayana in retro illuminations prints. His work usually combines the digital medium with hand painting in oil, acrylics, water colours, pencils and inks, besides photography and models. His latest series is called The Breath of Creation and depicts Lord Shiva in his two opposing aspects — the protector and the destructor.
