The Royal Institute of Architects (RIBA) has embarked into the world of international awards with 2016 RIBA International Prize, which will be awarded to the world’s best new building. The prize will be awarded to a building that has been constructed by any qualified architect in the world between 1 January 2013 and 1 February 2016 irrespective of its type, budget or nation. After the initial year the Prize will be awarded to buildings completed within two years. The main objective of the RIBA International Prize is to discover the “world’s most innovative and visionary architect and spark local and global debates about the positive impact that well-designed buildings and places can have on their communities and environment,” said Jane Duncan, the RIBA president.The jury members comprises of Philip Gumuchdjian, founder of Gumuchdjian Architects, Kunle Adeyemi, founder and principal of NLE and Richard Rogers , an arcitect. The names of all the jury members are yet to be revealed soon. The jury will shortlist six entries from a total of 20 winners of RIBA Awards for International Excellence while the Architecture in the UK will be represented by the RIBA Stirling Prize winners. To ensure that the jury is unbiased the there will be two expert panels of jurors.The deadline for entries for the inaugural year, 2016 is 9 February 2016 (Tuesday).
