Elon Musk, Tesla’s Chief Executive Officer, has called for fresh elections in the UK, marking another indication of how Donald Trump’s incoming US administration might trouble Keir Starmer’s government.
Musk, an outspoken adviser to Donald Trump (who will return to White House on January 20), used his X platform to launch a series of critiques against UK policy. He questioned Keir Starmer’s past as Britain’s Director of Public Prosecutions, called for far-right activist Tommy Robinson to be freed, and asserted that Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party is the "only" force capable of "saving" Britain.
In response to a post highlighting a poll that shows plummeting support for Keir Starmer’s Labour government, which won a landslide victory in the July 4 general election, Elon Musk urged for a new vote. “A new election should be called in Britain,” he wrote on X.

Musk’s volley of social media posts are the latest in a series of attacks he’s made on the British government.

With Trump giving Musk a key domestic role in his incoming administration leading a department to improve government efficiency, the billionaire’s repeated attacks on a key US ally threaten to muddy the so-called special relationship between the UK and US, according to a Bloomberg report.
Musk’s remarks come days after US President-elect Donald Trump’s series of attacks on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In his Christmas greeting last month, Trump had repeated his call to acquire the Panama Canal, Canada and Greenland.
Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, the incoming US President wrote, “Merry Christmas to all, including to the wonderful soldiers of China, who are lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal (where we lost 38,000 people in its building 110 years ago), always making certain that the United States puts in Billions of Dollars in “repair” money, but will have absolutely nothing to say about “anything”.”
“Also, to Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, whose Citizens’ Taxes are far too high, but if Canada was to become our 51st State, their Taxes would be cut by more than 60%, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be militarily protected like no other Country anywhere in the World.”
On Greenland, he said, “Likewise, to the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States for National Security purposes and, who want the US to be there, and we will!”
