Ahead of his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday shared a letter from Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas condemning the assassination bid on him. Earlier, Netanyahu in an official statement had expressed shock over the attack and said he and his wife Sara, 'pray for Trump's safety and speedy recovery.'
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who arrived in Washington to address Congress is expected to meet Trump on Friday and Biden-Harris on Thursday.
The letter on X (formerly Twitter) reads, 'It is with grave concern that I have received news and later on watched footage of your attempted assassination. Acts of violence must not have a place in a world of law and order. Respect for the other with tolerance and valuing of human life is what must prevail'.

Furthermore, the 88-year-old Palestinian leader condemned both attempted and successful assassination attempts as 'despicable acts,' reflecting 'weakness and a failed understanding of peaceful conflict resolution.' He emphasised that freedom of expression and communication are essential for resolving differences.
He concluded the letter by wishing Trump 'strength and safety and sending his thoughts to the families of the victims of the attack.
The letter was posted on Truth Social handle with added remarks.
Trump wrote, 'Mahmoud. So nice. Thank you. Everything will be good. Best wishes.
In his post, Trump stated that he is 'looking forward to achieving peace in the Middle East and is even more eager to meet with Bibi Netanyahu on Friday.'
Notably, 78-year-old former president survived an attempt on his life on July 13 when a young shooter fired multiple shots at him at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, injuring his right ear. The shooting left one person attending the rally dead and two others in serious condition.
The 20-year-old suspected shooter was shot and killed by a member of the Secret Service.
