The Nifty gained 0.5 percent to close above the 25,050 mark, led by strong contributions from HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. Bank Nifty and Metal indices also aided the recovery, even as Oil & Gas and PSU Bank stocks saw sharp declines. In the broader market, Nifty Midcap outperformed while Smallcap faltered. Among key Q1 earnings to watch today are Paytm and Colgate Palmolive. This morning, global cues were largely positive, with US markets closing mixed, while Asian markets were off to a good start.
