As tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran continue to escalate, the conflict is no longer limited to the battlefield as it has spilled over aggressively onto social media, where Iran and its supporters are responding with a wave of memes and satire targeting US President Donald Trump.
The online push comes amid sharp rhetoric from Trump, who recently issued a 48-hour ultimatum warning that the US would “obliterate” Iran’s power infrastructure if it failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route. Iran, in turn, has threatened retaliation and even hinted at shutting the strait entirely, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
Against this backdrop, Iranian social media handles, meme pages, and affiliated outlets have stepped up their online messaging, using humour and satire to counter Trump’s statements and shape public perception.

One of the most widely shared pieces of content is a Lego-style animated video titled “Strait of Hormuz will be closed.” The nearly three-minute CGI clip, styled like a parody of The Lego Movie, portrays a fictional scenario where a Lego version of Trump reacts in shock to claims of Iran’s defeat. The video then flips the narrative, showing Iran launching underwater and missile-based attacks, ending with visuals of US naval assets being hit. The animation has been widely circulated as pro-Iran propaganda, using pop culture storytelling to mock American claims and project strength.
Beyond animation, Iranian officials themselves have joined the trolling. An IRGC spokesperson, Zolfaghari, mimicked Trump’s signature style during a public address in English, saying, “Hey Trump, you are fired… Thank you for your attention to this matter,” turning the former president’s own catchphrase into a jab.

Social media users have amplified the tone, with memes and jokes flooding platforms. Some users joked that Trump tends to react strongly to mockery from adversaries, referencing past instances where foreign leaders publicly mimicked him. Others shared exaggerated takes on the situation, blending humour with geopolitical commentary.

Another strand of viral content includes cartoon depictions of Iran’s Sejjil missile, often portrayed as indestructible. In reality, the Sejjil-2 is a solid-fuel medium-range ballistic missile with a range of roughly 2,000–2,500 km, but online, it has been turned into a symbolic figure of resistance in meme culture.
