Generation Z is redefining bedtime rituals. A news TikTok trend called “bedtime stacking" is gaining popularity, especially among young women. According to Newsweek, the trend involves piling journals, books, beauty products, snacks and even laptops onto the bed to create a space for relaxation, productivity and self-care.

This trend is spreading rapidly on TikTok, with young creators sharing the beautifully arranged stacks that help them stay productive without leaving their beds. A video posted by Swedish artist Linnea Pham on January 23 showcases her bedtime stack, which garnered more than 37,000 likes.

According to Pham, bedtime stacking involves heading to bed early and completing as many tasks as possible without getting up.

In her video, Pham showed viewers her stack. It featured hand cream and a neck massager for relaxation. She also kept chips in a glass dish, describing it as "bed snacking." Her stack also included a Filofax, a book, an open iPad to open digital magazines and puzzle games, the TV remote, water, and several small comfort essentials.

The stack transforms the bed into a warm and thoughtful retreat, an organised mix of interests and rituals designed for deep, mindful rest.

How Bedtime Stacking Works

Bedtime stacks usually include journals, laptops, beauty products, water bottles, books, snacks, and tech gadgets arranged around the bed. This setup allows users to move between activities without having to get up.

Pham says the concept is a more mindful take on an existing Gen Z routine.

This intentional and structured nature has driven the trend’s rise, especially among young women.

Bedtime stacking is inspired by the concept of habit stacking, which encourages individuals to establish routines by combining small, productive tasks. Instead of scheduling reading, skincare, or planning separately, bedtime stacking combines them into a single nightly routine.

Bedtime stacking captures Gen Z’s love for maximalism and the “messy cool girl” vibe, where books and notebooks spill across the bedside. However, it also hints at a cultural reality: the pressure to do it all, even when winding down.
