The state finally seems to get respite from scorching heat after more than 20 days as showers occurred in isolated manner at some places and mercury level also came down over the last 24 hours. Fairly widespread rainfall is expected in the state over the next four days.
- After Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam observatories recorded 15cm and 20cm rainfall in 48 hours, the city's weather was largely dry and pleasant as high clouds kept the temperatures in check. IMD has forecast rainfall and thunderstorms for at least the next two days. Bloggers said strong westerlies, or the monsoon winds may move over the city bringing thunderstorms in the evenings or at night.
Parts of the national capital received light intensity rainfall early on Wednesday morning, bringing a little respite from the scorching heat.
The Met office has predicted increased rainfall activity in the city from Wednesday. The likely formation of cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal has raised the hope for intensified monsoon rain in next few days. The rain will also check the mercury from rising, said officials.
