With the India cricket team in Mumbai for the upcoming World Cup match against Sri Lanka, batter Suryakumar Yadav decided to have some fun by going undercover as a cameraman at Marine Drive and interviewing clueless fans. In fact, his disguise was so good that he fooled not only the people at Marine Drive but also his teammate Ravindra Jadeja, as a video shared by the BCCI shows.
To go undercover as a cameraman, Mumbai born-and-raised Suryakumar Yadav first wore a full-sleeved shirt to hide his tattoos. Next came a face mask, sunglasses and a cap to complete his look – ensuring that even Jadeja was unable to recognise him at first.
Disguise completed, Yadav stepped out at Marine Drive to interview cricket fans who had no idea they were speaking to a bona fide Indian cricketer.
At Mumbai’s iconic Marine Driver, he spoke to several people about their favourite cricketer, the team’s performance and more. One fan said Suryakumar Yadav needed to be higher up in the batting order to get more runs.
In the end, Yadav revealed his identity to one fan and posed for a photograph with her before leaving the sea-facing stretch.
India is set to face Sri Lanka on November 2 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The team is playing at the stadium after 11 years. It is currently undefeated in the ICC World Cup 2023.
