Manali - A land of breathtaking beauty and a loved destination for adventure junkies. It houses plenty of escapade activities. From flying to rolling to sliding, name it and you could experience it here. The wonderful view of the snow-clad mountains, the sound of the flowing beas river is beyond words. Let’s leave the popular sightseeing spots and explore the adventures Manali has in store for us.Paragliding:
Want to feel the adrenaline rush and literally get a bird's-eye view of the Himalayan ranges? Head to Solang, a picturesque valley, 14 kms off Manali. Here's where most of the action takes place, but paragliding is the master of all. Solang Valley has adventure activities all year long, but to enjoy paragliding you need to visit when it's greener.
Best Time: May to October
Cost: Rs 700 to 1500Zorbing:
In the Solang Valley, you could choose between flying or rolling down the mountain slope (or best experience both). Zorbing is a sport where you roll downhill in a inflatable transparent plastic ball called orb. Here you will be strapped into the ball and zipped up to be rolled down the hill.
Best Time: May to September
Cost: Rs 350 onwardsAmateur Skiing:
During the winters Solang valley welcomes skiers to the slopes. If you are a beginner, don't fret, there are a lot of guides who would help you take you first lessons in skiing. And if you are a professional skier, we need not tell you how to make the most of the snow blanket. You will find the gear and equipment just outside the valley and don’t forget to bargain as they tend to overprice.

(This picture was taken during May when the snow was melting)Snow Scooter/ATVs:
During summers, as the thick snow melts between Manali and Rohtang Pass, it attracts tourists to get on the Snow scooters. The exciting experience through the rugged terrain will thrill any adventure lover.

This might sound very simple but believe me, it is as thrilling as the others. You will be suspended on a rope that is safely tied around your waist. Once the harness is on and checked you will have to reach the other end of the river by pulling the rope and then pulled back by the instructor. You could request the instructor for a few dips in the chill river too. The Manali club house is the best place for river crossing for first-timers.
Cost: Rs 150White water rafting:There are sufficient options for water sports lovers across India and water rafting by all means is the most electrifying of all.
All around Manali, you will be followed by the river Beas, which is one of the best places to raft. You get to raft in the chill and freshly melted snow water cruising through high grade rapids of the river. And ya, don't forget to get some stunning pictures clicked.
Best Time: Jan - June and Oct - Dec
Cost: For 3 km Rs 400 and for 7 km Rs 800Trekking: And finally, if you have some extra time in hand and wish to be away from the hustle bustle of the city for a few days, go trekking. There are plenty of treks that start from Manali and Kullu. Depending on the time you have and the type of terrain you are looking for, you could choose your route.
