Patricia Eriksson, a 41-year-old woman from Sweden, has taken to the streets of Nagpur in search of her biological mother. She was given up for adoption four decades ago and was born in Nagpur’s Daga Hospital in February 1983. She was adopted by a Swedish couple a year later.
Eriksson is being assisted by an advocate Anjali Panwar in her search. This is the second time that the Swedish resident has come to Nagpur. The search has been tough but she is determined to reunite with her biological mother, who gave her up when she was 23 and unwed. The 41-year-old is also grateful for everything that her adoptive parents did for her.
While talking to ANI, Eriksson revealed the moment when she realised she was adopted. “The kids in school started to explain that they have their mother's hair and father's nose. Then I realised I couldn't do the same. From a child's perspective, you cannot compare yourself to your mother. You are just put in a place where you don't look like anyone else. So that's why my thought (of searching for my biological mother) started. I hope this can lead to something more.”
"I have been thinking about her since I was 6-years-old. It was a tough time in Sweden," she added.

“We are helping Patricia in her search. Anyone who used to live in Shantinagar in 1983 and knows her or knows about Shanta and Ramdas should come forward and help us. Patricia wants to meet her mother once,” Advocate Anjali Panwar appealed to everyone.
Meanwhile, in December last year, a Swiss woman named Vidhya Philippon also landed in Mumbai to search for her biological mother. Her quest had been on since a decade and the only clue she had was her mother's surname and address which were no longer in existence.
Born on February 8, 1996, Philippon's mother left her at the Missionaries of Charity. She was adopted by a Swiss couple in 1997.
