Fernando Alonso wins British GP for Ferrari

Spain's Fernando Alonso won the British Grand Prix on Sunday for Ferrari's first victory of the season.

The win, 16.5 seconds ahead of Red Bull's world champion Sebastian Vettel, came on the 60th anniversary of the Italian team's first triumph in the Formula One world championship -- also at Silverstone.

Australian Mark Webber, who had started on pole position, was third for Red Bull ahead of McLaren's Lewis Hamilton who banged into Ferrari's Felipe Massa at the final corner to secure fourth.

Vettel, who had led from the start until a faulty wheelnut slowed him at his second pitstop, extended his overall lead over Webber to 80 points from a previous 77.
