Meiyappan charged with betting in IPL chargesheet

Gurunath Meiyappan was chargesheeted for betting in the IPL scandal by the Mumbai Police on Saturday. The Mumbai police has said that they have not found any evidence of spot fixing against Meiyappan.

The Mumbai police on Saturday filed its chargesheet in the IPL betting scandal. CSK owner and BCCI chief N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan has been named as one of the accused in the chargesheet.

The Mumbai police has said that they have not found any evidence of spot fixing against Meiyappan. The next date for hearing in the case is November 21.

Refusing to comment on the chargesheet filed against his son-in-law, BCCI President N Srinivasan said that he will not step aside as the president as he is 'not disqualified' and does not see any reason to resign.

BCCI President also added that the matter is subjudice and the law should take its own course. He said that he will be asking the secretary of the BCCI to take appropriate legal advice in the matter.

Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf and Jaipur brothers are among the other accused. The accused have been charged with cheating, gambling, conspiracy and forgery.
