A recent LinkedIn post by a former Human Resources (HR) employee from Punjab has ignited a debate after she alleged that her termination was due to her efforts to safeguard employee rights. The woman, who shared her experience on the professional networking platform, claimed that her dismissal was a result of her opposition to a company policy regarding salary deductions for absences.
In her post, Babina detailed her confrontation with her employer over a policy that proposed a seven-day salary deduction for employees taking leave on August 19, Raksha Bandhan. She asserted that her termination letter, which she claimed was issued after she suggested the policy was legally questionable, was expedited by revoking her access to company systems. Alongside her account, she included screenshots of WhatsApp messages with her boss.

The company countered these claims, stating that the termination was due to the employee's alleged lack of competence and poor performance. In comments on the LinkedIn post, the company accused her of misusing work hours, neglecting responsibilities such as managing the company’s social media, and failing to meet performance standards.

In response to the company’s rebuttal, many users expressed support for the former HR employee. Comments on the post included calls for legal action and employee solidarity. One user suggested, “It is incredibly heartwarming to see there are still HRs like you who stand up. Do not leave this matter unresolved, as it sets a precedent for others.”
"Is corporate bringing slavery back? Imagine giving almost 45% to 50% of our day, every day, then not able to celebrate special festivals with our loved ones. Slavery, right? We must always stand up against such atrocities. I support you Babina. Thank you for standing up on behalf of your fellow employees. You stayed true to your work- HUMAN RESOURCE, for humans. I am sure you will get the right company," a user stated.
Another comment proposed a collective resignation by employees as a form of protest against the company’s practices, while others directed the former HR employee to relevant governmental complaint channels.
"There is a website of the Central Government on which you can complain, otherwise another suggestion is that all the employees of the company should resign together. After that the company is no more then he will apply for the job himself and understand all these," the user wrote.
A user remarked, "After seeing this screenshot, all employees should unite, resign, and file a complaint in labor court. Such pathetic behaviour."
