A recent social media post by Adina Hira, a young job seeker in Pakistan, has brought to light the sexual harassment she experienced while applying for positions. The incident has generated significant online outrage and calls for action against the perpetrators.
Hira, who shared her story on the social media platform X, recounted how she received inappropriate messages from hiring managers after applying for jobs as a fresher on the Indeed website. "Being a girl in Pakistan is too difficult! I applied for a job on the Indeed website, which was for fresh graduates, and this is the message I received. It's unbelievable! Who knows how many innocent girls they must have taken advantage of?" Hira wrote in her post.

The snapshots of her conversations revealed the demands from potential employers. One hiring manager told Hira she "needs to be ready to cooperate with the boss regarding any activities." When Hira asked for clarification, the manager responded that she would need to "spend some quality time with your boss."
In another exchange, a person named Sadam Bhukari outlined that her responsibilities would include arranging meetings, managing travel, attending calls, and fulfilling "special and personal tasks for the boss."
The post, shared on July 23, has since elicited numerous comments urging Hira to take legal action. One user advised, "Also call them out on LinkedIn, get the support of the community so we can warn others." Dr. Farhan K Virk commented, "File an appeal for harassment with federal ombudsperson. It's the safest & quickest way to get justice. They will have to pay for this."
One user stated, "They clearly mentioned special tasks so better to ignore these kind of positions if you're not interested. It's so sad to see most people prefer these kind of jobs because they don't want to do anything else. Good to see you are speaking about this."
Another user, Bilal Khan, encouraged Hira to further expose the individuals involved, stating, "Good job taking the first step exposing the criminal employer. Now, take it further and post their address and the names of the individuals who are involved. Most girls don't take this step in Pakistan, India and third-world countries. So nice job once again. Every girl must not fear these animals regardless of how much money they offer or whoever they are. Never remain silent."
