As India’s women’s cricket team extended its unbeaten run against Pakistan with a commanding 88-run win at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium, continuing a streak of four consecutive Sunday victories — three in the Asia Cup and now in the Women’s World Cup, celebrations were underway in India, as was trolling of Pakistan.
As netizens made fun of the rival country's unbeaten string of defeats, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan joined in. “Just another Sunday of Eat. Sleep. Win. Repeat. Team India,” he wrote on X.

But it wasn’t just the scoreboard that drew attention. A dropped catch in the 49th over triggered a wave of online trolling, spotlighting Pakistan’s recurring fielding woes.
Sidra-Natalia collision goes viral
With India at 236/8, Richa Ghosh mistimed a short ball from Diana Baig. Wicketkeeper Sidra Nawaz called for the catch but collided with Natalia Pervaiz, resulting in a dropped opportunity. Ghosh, visibly amused, took a single before Kranti Goud punished Pakistan further with a boundary off the next ball.
The moment was widely shared on social media.

Tensions flare on and off the field
The match began with controversy. Fatima Sana’s toss call of “tails” was misheard as “heads". When the coin landed heads up, the decision was incorrectly awarded to Fatima, who chose to field. The confusion set the tone for a day marked by frosty exchanges — captains Harmanpreet Kaur and Sana skipped the customary handshake at the toss, and players walked off without post-match greetings.

Drama continued when Pakistan opener Muneeba Ali was run out in unusual fashion — her bat airborne during an LBW review when the bails were dislodged, prompting heated protests.
India’s composure, Pakistan’s collapse
Harleen Deol top-scored with 46 off 65, while Richa Ghosh’s 35 off 20 lifted India to 247. Diana Baig’s 4/69 stood out for Pakistan, but the rest of the bowling lacked bite.
In reply, Pakistan faltered early. Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana shared five wickets, while Kranti Goud’s three-wicket burst sealed the win. Sidra Amin’s 81 was the lone resistance.
India now tops the table. Pakistan remains winless.

Pests, pitch, and perspective
Play was briefly disrupted by pests. Jemimah Rodrigues said, “Honestly, I had to focus even more because visibility was limited, but you just have to get on with it.”

She added, “It wasn’t an easy pitch because it was covered for 48 hours. Moisture on the pitch was giving it a bit of hold. This is a fighting total for us.”
India’s batters got starts but couldn’t convert. Pakistan’s fielding, however, converted a tough day into a meme-worthy spectacle.
