Noida techie, who paid Rs 64,000 rent for 3BHK apartment, moves to Goa. Now pays only Rs 19,000

Raj, who grew up and lived most of his life in Delhi NCR, had previously gone viral for sharing a photograph of the 'dreamy view' from his Noida apartment. The image, which sarcastically used the term 'dreamy,' showed a dull view of a neighbouring building in a densely populated urban setting. He and his flatmates were paying Rs 64,000 per month for the 3BHK apartment, excluding maintenance charges.

'Update: moved to Goa. 19k/month rent is so worth it,' Raj wrote, along with a photo of the view from his new residence.

An engineer working in the Web3 space who once paid Rs 64,000 a month for an apartment in Noida has moved to Goa, citing not just massive savings on rent but also a better quality of life. The decision, he said, was driven by a desire to escape the air pollution of Delhi NCR and to experience a quieter, small-town lifestyle.

Raj, who grew up and lived most of his life in Delhi NCR, had previously gone viral for sharing a photograph of the “dreamy view” from his Noida apartment. The image, which sarcastically used the term “dreamy,” showed a dull view of a neighbouring building in a densely populated urban setting. He and his flatmates were paying Rs 64,000 per month for the 3BHK apartment, excluding maintenance charges.

“A move out of Delhi NCR was long time coming since I grew up and pretty much spent my entire life there — and I was done with air pollution,” Raj told HT.com.

“I had thought of Bengaluru and Goa — chose Goa a couple of months back since I wanted to try out a more small-town vibe,” he added.

Now based in Goa, Raj shared an update on social media, revealing that his current rent is ₹19,000 per month — significantly lower than what he was paying in Noida.

“Update: moved to Goa. 19k/month rent is so worth it,” he wrote, along with a photo of the view from his new residence.

Unlike the confined and uninspiring view from his Noida flat, Raj’s new apartment in Goa comes with a covered patio that overlooks lush greenery and trees — a stark contrast to the “concrete jungle” he left behind.

The engineer also responded to questions from social media users regarding his initial experiences in the coastal state. When asked whether he had faced any hostility from locals, Raj responded in the negative, saying, “I just came here 2 weeks back and got an apartment last week — so can’t comment on healthcare. But haven’t faced any hostility from anyone so far.”

He further noted that his new apartment came equipped with basic amenities, including an inverter and a stable internet connection installed by the landlord — a detail that often concerns remote workers and digital professionals choosing to relocate.

Meanwhile, Raj’s earlier post had drawn widespread attention to the soaring cost of rent in the Delhi NCR region, particularly in Noida, where even high rental payments often fail to guarantee quality living environments.
