A customer in Noida raised alarm over food safety after allegedly discovering a disposable glove inside a sandwich ordered through Zomato. The complaint, shared on social media platform X, quickly drew attention from both the delivery platform and other users.

The customer, identified as Satish Sarawagi (@SarawagiSatish), posted a photograph of the meal he claimed to have received from Salad Days, a delivery-only food brand widely known in the Delhi NCR region. The image appeared to show a plastic food-handling glove placed among the ingredients inside a sandwich.

Sarawagi also uploaded a screenshot of his order receipt from the Zomato application, which listed two sandwiches: a broccoli, corn and basil pesto filling served in a sourdough baguette, and another prepared with smoked cottage cheese and pepper.

Alongside the images, he wrote: “@zomato @zomatocare, I ordered a sandwich and found a glove inside the food! This is unacceptable and a serious hygiene concern. Please investigate and respond ASAP. @deepigoyal @saladdaysco @fssaiindia @timesofindia @News18India @htTweets.”

The post circulated widely, with the user’s concern described as a potential “serious hygiene issue”.

Zomato, in its official response from its Zomato Care account on X, expressed dismay at the allegation. The company wrote: “Hi Satish, we're absolutely shocked to hear about this. We can't begin to imagine how upsetting this must have been for you. Please allow us some time to discuss this with our restaurant partner. We'll get in touch with you to discuss this further.”

The company reiterated in a follow-up that it required time to take up the matter with its restaurant partner and assured the customer of further communication.

Salad Days also issued a statement regarding the allegation. "We're taking this matter extremely seriously and have immediately launched a thorough investigation with our quality assurance team. This kitchen has been flagged for urgent review. Please DM us your contact details so we can coordinate directly and ensure this is resolved properly."
