Entrepreneur Dilip Kumar shared how a cold email secured him investment from Nithin Kamath, the founder of Zerodha, and Rainmatterin for his last start-up ImStrong. Kumar emphasized the transformative power of asking, challenging the common perception that seeking help is a sign of weakness.
A recent series of tweets by the entrepreneur recounted how a simple act of reaching out led to a game-changing investment from Nithin Kamath.
"Most entrepreneurs feel asking for help is a sign of weakness. But my biggest realization is, it's actually a superpower," tweeted Kumar narrating how he secured his investment from the billionaire.
Reflecting on his early days with ImStrong, Kumar acknowledged his lack of familiarity with fundraising processes and a dearth of contacts in the venture capital and angel investor networks. Undeterred, he resorted to sending cold emails, a move that defied conventional wisdom.
“When I was starting ImStrong, my last startup. I knew nothing about raising money. I knew no one in the venture capital or angel networks,” he wrote.
"I sent a cold email to @Nithin0dha. I expected it to land no response. But in 10 mins I got a reply. In 2 days, I got an investment offer," shared Kumar.

Entrepreneurs, according to Kumar, possess a powerful tool to navigate the intricate landscape of social connections by embracing vulnerability. Whether asking for help, feedback, or suggestions, the outcome is unpredictable but holds the potential for extraordinary results.
Kumar had some advice to aspiring entrepreneurs: "Whatever you are building, don't shy away from asking —Asking customers to try the product. Asking potential candidates to join the team. Asking investors for money. Asking random people for suggestions or feedback.”
The journey, as Kumar put, is summarised by his last line: “You may get many "No". All you need is that one "Yes".”
