Malayalam actor Lena announced her marriage to Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, group captain of India's Gaganyaan mission. The couple got married on January 17.

Malayalam actor Lena announced her marriage to Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, one of the astronauts of the Gaganyaan mission. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Lena, in a surprise development, revealed her nuptials hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi awarded the first astronaut wings to the four Indian Air Force pilots.

Lena revealed that she tied the knot with Nair on January 17 but did divulge the news due to confidentiality purposes. She expressed her pride as well in the post that went viral on social media. She revealed that she got married to the Gaganyaan astronaut in a traditional ceremony through an arranged marriage.

“Today, 27 February, 2024, our Prime Minister, Modi ji awarded the first Indian astronaut wings to Indian Air Force fighter pilot, Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair. It is a historic moment of pride for our country, our state of Kerala and me personally. In order to maintain the officially required confidentiality, I was waiting for this announcement to let you know that I got married to Prasanth on 17 January, 2024 in a traditional ceremony through an arranged marriage,” Lena wrote.

Meanwhile, the names of the four Indian Air Force pilots for India’s maiden human spaceflight mission were announced on Tuesday. Group Captain Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla were awarded their astronauts wings by PM Modi on Tuesday.

Nair was born August 26, 1976 in Kerala. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), the United States Staff College, the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Flying Instructors School, Tambaram.

Nair, who has a flying experience of approximately 3,000 hours, was also awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour at the Air Force Academy. He was commissioned in the fighter stream of IAF in 1998.

He has flown a variety of aircraft, including Su-30 MKI, MiG-21, MiG-29, Hawk, Dornier and An-32
