Market veteran and Motilal Oswal Group co-founder, Motilal Oswal, has doubled down on his commitment to swadeshi living, announcing his preference for Indian-made products over foreign luxuries.
In a post on X, Oswal shared a photo of a Mahindra SUV and wrote, “I’m fully Desi now—no more foreign luxuries! Proud to use mostly Indian products. As I mentioned earlier, my next favourite car Mahindra,” tagging Mahindra Group chairperson Anand Mahindra.

Oswal’s remarks come in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s renewed push for economic nationalism. Addressing a rally in Varanasi, he urged citizens and political parties alike to adopt the "vocal for local" mantra and support indigenous products amid global economic uncertainty.
“There is an atmosphere of global instability. All countries are focusing on their individual interests. India is going to become the third biggest economy in the world, and that is why India will have to stay alert as far as its economic interests are concerned,” the Prime Minister said.
Oswal had earlier announced a lifestyle shift, choosing to forego foreign cars, watches, and luxury items in favour of Indian alternatives. Last January, following another “vocal for local” message from PM Modi, he posted a photo of his Tata Safari, stating, “In my pursuit of minimalistic and simple living, I have turned Desi now. World-class Indian products are available now. Started with my Tata Safari, next would be Mahindra.”
