Dialysis service provider NephroPlus is looking to open up to 55 centres across India by the end of next year as part of its expansion plans, according to a top company official.

The expansion in the Indian market could entail an investment of around Rs 55 crore.

"We are planning to open around 50 to 55 centres by end of next year. We are aiming to increase our footprint across the length and breadth of the country," NephroPlus Founder and CEO Vikram Vuppala told PTI.

The company currently has 126 dialysis centres in 81 cities in India, he added.

When asked about locations of the new centres, Vuppala said the focus would be across different tiers of cities.

The company had earlier said it would focus on tier II, III and tier IV cities such as non-metros, state capitals and large towns for expansion.

When asked about investments, he said NephroPlus would be investing around Rs 1 crore per centre, which would have around 10-12 dialysis machines.

On the funding of the expansion, Vuppala said: "We have already raised Rs 100 crore last September from the World Bank and BS capital hence we have adequate funds. We have also partnered with the HDFC bank and we have enough funds for next one and half year."

When asked about overseas expansion plans, he said the company was also planning to have a presence in five new countries in next five years without divulging details.
