After heavy rainfall on Tuesday and the subsequent traffic jams brought Gurgaon to a standstill, a video has emerged on social media that shows a bunch of corporate employees hiring a mini truck to go home after failing to book rides via aggregator apps such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido either because the fares were too high or no cabs were available.

The now-viral clip shows the professionals dressed in formals riding the truck booked via Porter while plying through flooded roads. While some social media users praised the employees for coming up with the idea, others pointed out that the incident highlighted the sorry state of affairs for corporate employees in the country's tech hub.

Reacting to the video on Instagram, a user commented, "The Porter mini truck drivers have found an opportunity during these rains, they're benefiting too." "Please share the rental charges, can have an MoU signed up PAN India," added another.

Heavy rains in Gurgaon have completely thrown life out of gear; several people even shared on social media that they booked rooms in hotels to avoid hours-long jams on the waterlogged roads, while others complained of being stranded for hours in traffic.

Meanwhile, the Gurgaon Police issued an advisory, saying that heavy rainfall of more than 100 mm had been recorded from 3 pm to 7 pm, and advised corporate offices to allow work from home and online classes for students.

“The Indian Meteorological Department in its forecast has issued an orange alert: heavy to very heavy rainfall for 02-09-2025. In view of the above forecast, all corporate offices and private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to work from home, and all schools in the district are advised to conduct online classes,” said the deputy commissioner.
