A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck Delhi-NCR around 5.30 am on Monday and left citizens in shock due to its intense tremors and the noise that a few social media users have described as a "roar," causing many to rush out of their homes in alarm.
A passenger waiting at the New Delhi railway station during the earthquake said he felt the tremors for about 10 seconds. "It was pretty intense. Everything was shaking," the passenger told news agency ANI, pointing to the benches and the banners above it. "We felt like a train was rushing under the ground. We all felt it."

A shopkeeper at New Delhi railway station said the quake scared his customers, many of whom started shouting in fear. "Everything was shaking, even our counter. We had a few customers at the time, some of them were women, they started screaming. Everyone was jolted. The tremors were pretty strong," the vendor, Anish, told ANI. "Initially, I wondered if there was a train collision somewhere nearby. It was only later we realised that it was an earthquake."
