US-headquartered consultancy McKinsey estimates that generative AI could add $4.4 trillion to the global economy annually. According to the report by McKinsey, startups will significantly automate half of the world's work by 2060. As financing for Indian startups moves away from creative applications and toward business infrastructure development, this is expected to increase in the following months.

The Indian generative AI ecosystem had 60 firms across industries as of May 2023, as reported by Nasscom. Over $590 million has been invested in this industry, with 2022 experiencing the highest influx of money. A report by SaaSBoomi and McKinsey published on July 27 also said that in India, the number of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) startups has more than doubled since 2021, raising $590 million in funding as of May 2023. It is in response to the increasing popularity of Gen AI tools such as ChatGPT.
