Indo-Pak dialogue process slowed due to Pathankot attacks:Sharif

In the aftermath of the Pathankot terror strike, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the attacks have derailed the Indo-Pak dialogue. "Talks with India were progressing but the Pathankot attack has affected the dialogue process," he said on Saturday.

India has given several proofs against Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Maulana Masood Azhar for his role in the Pathankot terror attacks, but no action has been taken against him yet even three weeks after the attacks. India has demanded swift action against perpetrators of the attacks and has maintained that no talks will take place until Pakistan acts against the accused.

Earlier, Pakistan High Commissioner had assured that if India gives them proper evidence, Pakistan will soon act against the Jaish-e-Mohammad chief. "If Pakistan team get proper evidence, then I am confident that Masood Azhar will not meet the same fate as Lakhvi. I can assure you that no individual or organization will be spared," he said. Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi who is accused of planning the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, is still running scot-free despite India providing multiple proofs to Pakistan over his role in the attacks.

He had also added that though no dates have been decided yet for the Foreign Secretary-level talks between the two countries, he was happy that the talks have not been called off.

"Many mistakes were made after 26/11 by both countries which we are keen to avoid after Pathankot. India, Pakistan not calling off talks after Pathankot is a positive move," he said.

However, he had remained non committal on whether dates for the talks have been decided yet. "It is not incorrect to say that Foreign Secretary-level talks will happen in first fortnight of February. I see no reason why talks should be discontinued despite Pathankot attacks," he had said.

Seven security personnel had been martyred and six terrorists had been killed in the Pathankot terror attacks.
