The Jammu and Kashmir government today announced an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh each to next of the kin of three persons, who went missing after a cloudburst hit Assar-Bagger area in Doda district, after the search operations were called off.
"We have stopped the search operations," Doda Development Commissioner Farooq Ahmed Khan. The next of kin of the missing persons will be given an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh each, he said.
The compensation to people who have lost their property in the calamity will be made only after assessing the damages, Khan said. Meanwhile, the traffic on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway was restored after remaining closed for nearly two days.
Normal life in Assar-Bagger was disrupted after flash floods following a cloudburst ripped the area on June 8.
Earlier in the day, BJP and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party demanded immediate grant of compensation to the affected.
"We demand an immediate grant of compensation for the cloudburst affected people of Assar-Bagger," BJP''s state spokesperson Jatinder Singh said.
