Regulatory Commission to decide quantum of power hike

Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda today dropped hints that power tariff hike in the state has become inevitable, but assured that the government will tread a cautious path.

Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda today dropped hints that power tariff hike in the state has become inevitable, but assured that the government will tread a cautious path.

Talking to reporters on his arrival on a two-day visit to Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, he said the Karnataka Electricity Regulartory Commission is a statutory body and would decide on the quantum of power hike.

Gowda said he has already reviewed the performance of 22 departments of the government, directed the ministers and officials to clear files without delay.

On the boycot of a meeting by opposition which he had called yesterday in Bangalore, Gowda said the opposition party leaders did not attend it for vaious reasons.

He however said he would invite the opposition leader for a meeting next week.
