A major clash took place between some Army personnel and traffic policemen in Pune on Tuesday night. Two jawans on a motorcycle allegedly beat up traffic policemen after they were stopped from going into a no-entry zone.

Witnesses say the argument turned violent when the constables tried to issue the jawans a challan.

Some civilians who tried to break up the fight were also beaten up.

Journalists who captured the fight were also reportedly manhandled. Police teams and Army men in six vehicles rushed to the scene.

About 40 Army personnel came to the police station later and ransacked it.

A case has now being filed over the clash.

The Army has also taken note of the incident. A statement issued by the Army said, "Strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the incident. We will not tolerate any indiscipline."
