Trinamool Congress general secretary Mukul Roy today said no land in the state would be acquired without the consent of farmers or landowners. "Trinamool Congress is always with farmers and no land anywhere in the state would be acquired by the government without the consent of the farmers or landowners," Roy said while addressing the Krishi Jami Raksha Committee (KJRC) members at Loba village in Birbhum district where villagers had clashed with the police on November 6.

"I have come here on the instruction of party chief and chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Trinamool Congress is always with farmers and the government will take no decision that will hurt the interest of the farmers," Roy said. Speaking on the occasion the Krishi Jami Raksha Committee (KJRC) secretary Joydeb Majumdar said "we have faith in chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress government."

On November 6, a clash had broken out between the police and the people of Loba village when a police team went to recover a earth moving machine of mining firm Bengal EMTA which was forcibly kept by the villagers. KJRC is protesting the land acquisition by Bengal EMTA.
