Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Monday wikiLeaks expose could not be taken seriously as it could be neither confirmed or rejected.
Reacting to the charge of BJP leader Arun Jaitley earlier in the day that Congress was taking the issue "seriously", Mukherjee, who arrived here for Congress campaign, told reporters here that nowhere in the world the exposes have been taken with intent.
Asserting that the Prime Minister and he himself had clearly explained the party''s view in Parliament, the senior Congress leader said, "Someone was trying to make mountain out of a mole hill."
The correspondence (as exposed in Wikileaks cables, first exposed by ''The Hindu'' daily) is between a sovereign government and their missions located in other countries and they are the sole authority to verify it, he said.
"We are not in a position to verfiy it," he added.
